EVICTIONS

This past week I was contacted by one of my favorite attorneys to service civil papers on a company owner who had been avoiding service.  The civil documents involved evicting the company from a particular lease location that the company has not paid rent for months, the bill way over six figures.

I asked a number of additional questions about the business and the owner that had my attorney client asking me WHY?  

My answer, two police officers were just shot and killed last month essentially because of an eviction.

What was once thought of as common place is not anymore.  Process servers and private investigators need to keep in mind what is going on in their own communities and environment to be safe.

As it turned out, I was really lucky that I located the person and gave him a Safeway grocery bag as I asked for his wife.  He took the bag, and I said a quiet thank you sir, and quickly left the area.
